History

Using a similar floor plan, Nichols’s crews gave this house its own look with a more balanced arrangement and two half timbered gables. Sold originally in October 1926, the house changed hands numerous times during the 1930s and 1940s, and was periodically listed in the city directory as “vacant.” From 1946 to the early 1970s it even became the Young Ages Day School, operated by resident Imogene Barnard.

The home was rescued in 1977 by Mr. and Mrs. John Leon, who began a gradual rehabilitation. They enlarged the kitchen, reconstructed period-style cabinets, reopened a stairway that had been closed, and removed paneling over several windows.
