History
Constructed in 1907, this home has Victorian and Colonial features with oversized gables, a tiled roof, and classically inspired Venetian windows. The home was built by Samuel R. Raymond, a native of Illinois who was vice president of the Security National Bank and president of the First National Bank of Capitol Hill. Samuel and his wife and daughter lived in the home.
In 1948, after the home change hands twice, it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Carey, Jr., who had just moved to Oklahoma City from their native Chicago. Mr. Carey was secretary treasurer and later president of the Carey Lumber Company, a pioneer firm founded by his grandfather. The Careys completed a general remodeling, enlarged the living area, and converted the house from steam heat to central heat and air.
In the 1990s Lisa and Tom Daniel moved into the home with their three children, Corbin, Riley and Chip. Tom served as president of Historical Preservation, Inc. from 2002-2005.
