History

Thomas F. McMechan moved to Oklahoma City from Guthrie. Three years later he bought this territorial frame home constructed in 1905. He became an assistant US attorney at the Federal Court in Guthrie. He was also active in the Republican Party, which controlled the government in Oklahoma Territory. After moving to Oklahoma City, he was elected to the state Senate, where he served in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th legislatures. He also served as solicitor for the Mid-Continent Life Insurance Company and opened his own law firm.  When McMechan moved into the house on 15th he was joined by his wife, Mary, and his niece, Ruth, who would eventually return to the house.

Dr. James Graham, a beloved veterinarian, also lived in the home for many years.
